Through the week.Architecture. If the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver is David Adjaye’s first major public building to be completed in the United States, it is hardly the first such project in his career. The fast-rising London architect is showcased in “David Adjaye: Making Public Buildings,” an internationally touring show that runs through May 25 at the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver, 1485 Delgany St. The show was organized by the Whitechapel Gallery in London and has been shown at the Netherlands Architecture Institute and The Studio Museum in Harlem. $10, $5 seniors and students. 303-298-7554 or mcadenver.org.
Today.Photography. China has become a focal point for contemporary art of all kinds, and photography is no exception. A new exhibition, “Body Art: New Photography from China,” explores the work of six of the country’s most prominent artists working in the medium — Huang Yan, Li Wei, Cang Xin, Liu Ren, Ma Yanling and Wu Yuren. The show, organized in conjunction with the Asian Art Coordinating Council, opens today at the Foothills Art Center, 809 15th St., in Golden, with a public reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. $3, $2 seniors and free for students. 303-279-3922 or foothillsartcenter.org.
Through the week.Photography. In conjunction with the national conference of the Society for Photographic Education taking place this weekend in Denver, more than 50 photo exhibitions are taking place around the metro area. Among them is “Out of Place,” a selection of photo-based works by 11 international artists. It runs through April 26 at the Robischon Gallery, 1740 Wazee St. Free. 303-298-7788 or robischongallery.com.
Through the week.Comedy classic. If a colleague stops you in the hall to recount the dialogue of “The Princess Bride,” you’d be a dope not to celebrate the film’s run this weekend. Long before Amy Adams enchanted, Robin Wright was fracturing fairy tales. Ages before Puss in Boots purred in “Shrek,” Mandy Patinkin declared in a deliciously silly accent, “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Friday and Saturday, midnight, Esquire Theatre, East Sixth Avenue and Downing Street. $7. 303-352-1992.

Watch that Gates/Jobs podcast from Walter Mossbergs conference last week-Jobs goes on at some length discussing how his team is great at the front end experience, and how they will depend on others (Google) to provide the great back-end support. Google Maps in the iPhone (using google’s map API and infrastructure and Apple’s proprietary front end for the UI) is just the tip of the iceberg.

Apple and Linux in bed together ???????(yes, Google==Linux)

I think a lot of people here are missing the point.Apple makes things easy to use and beautiful. The beauty really does add to the user experience.Google is all about bringing things down to their essence (gmail, search), but sometimes does this in a clunky way.Together they could do some really awesome things, especially with .mac (but really .mac should just die) and the iphone platform.Gmail seamlessly integrated with the iphone would be a killer app (i.e. being able to read you email and not necessarily have to download the attachments because it is web based …. which could be painful with a few high res photos over an EDGE connection).Google apps with apple’s rich interfaces on the iphone would be a killer app (and solve the immediate need for an office suite to make the iphone a true smartphone competitor). We’ll see. I think it will be slick, but not nearly as involved as so many of you are thinking.

Huge partnership between Google and Apple, and Google Spreadheets&Documents don’t even work with Safari yet? We can only hope there are great advancements here.

in Russian folklore there’s a famous object - an apple on a plate that answers all your questions…let’s see how far this déjà vu goes…

Apple has become famous for its marketing strategy: i-overcharge

Cue funny names like Goople, in 3, 2, 1….

I would love to have .Mac become free again (poor iTools)… or even better, open OS X’s .Mac integration up to play nice with regular WebDAV stuff…

Yeah I called this 11 days ago in the comments for the story below. It is pretty obvious there will be at least some sort of partnership between .Mac and Google.http://www.digg.com/apple/Google_extras_coming_with_iPhone

Looks like I am going to have to stop using Google…..

I’m not really seeing the “synergy” the article’s talking about. Google has never limited its online offerings to specific OSes, so a sudden Mac + Google storage bundle makes little sense. Official Gmail support for the iPhone sounds more likely to me.

Didn’t Jobs say the mail on the iPhone would be hosted by Yahoo?I definitely think we’ll see a partnership next week. What that will entail is purely speculation at this point.Google apps with an Apple UI would be sweeeeet! Cross your fingers…

Two of the most hateful companies: Apple and Google decided to become bigger and more hateful. They both just want your money, nothing else, forever and ever. The rest is bullshit. There’s only one company that doesn’t care about your money only, cause they own itto begin it, and that’s the goverment. Too bad they don’t give a shit about your souls either.

Those of you who can’t s ee the synergy between what Apple does best and what Google does best needs only check out the new Mail Plane mail application. It’s a sweet cocoa front end for Gmail. Now imagine iCal as a sweet front end for gCal that also maintains a local database for sync services. Address Book…iChat…iPhoto…maybe even iWeb, Pages, Keynote, et al.Won’t gain immediate traction, simply because, as someone said, not everyone has Fiber into the home, but it would immediately be great for lots and lots of people who do have broadband always on and use their phones for on-the-go networking.
