“Stand up for itself” is an idiom. Chafets’ article was about self-defense, not self-sustainability. some supporters of Israel have started to suggest that the failed efforts at prevention be replaced by assured American deterrence: any Iranian nuclear attack on Israel would be treated as an attack on the United States. Charles Krauthammer, a Washington Post columnist, recently referred to this as “the Holocaust doctrine.” From Israel’s perspective, the thought is tempting — but it’s not realistic.Done. RTFAIn the even that theres a fight between Iran and Israel, he says, Israel can’t, and shouldn’t, depend on US intervention. The US wouldn’t be in a position where we’d want to help them, it would cause too much new backlash, but they wouldn’t really need it.If Iran nuked Tel-Aviv, Israel’s response would, justly, be to fuckall and dominate Iran. And they’d do it without any help from us.If it came to that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see every major Iranian city leveled to make a statement that Israel won’t stand by while it’s existence is actively challenged. Such an extreme response would serve to make sure that such an extreme attack is never seen out against it again.

Yeah, lets kill Bush, and let the more sensible, politically sound Cheney take his place. Bush is a moron, Cheney is not. Imagine what he would do to our already crippled country.

There’s obviously no one talented or lucky enough to get them both with one shot.

Gotcha. Some blogs are spam, but not all spam are blogs (Though GW tends to lift a lot of stuff from other sites.) Gosh, we really get along when we’re not talking politics. :)Yeah, I almost think we could have a drink together without throttling each other.Hit me up if you’re ever in Sacramento.

No, I don’t think aiding Israel was among the U.S. reasons for invading Iraq. What I think is that Israel may conspire to keep us there, potentially against the wishes of the next U.S. administration, because permanent U.S. presence in Iraq increases their security (or at least they might think so).But I don’t think the U.S. can sustain a substantial force in Iraq indefinitely, and trying to do so could damage the U.S. both economically and militarily so much that it would be unable to contribute much to Israel’s security. On the other hand, it might also give Israel a much freer reign in the Middle East to engage in military adventures without the U.S. looking over its shoulder.

I think it’s totally pointless to speculate how an all-out nuclear war would evolve.More importantly, the US guarantees Israel’s safety, which is why this article is such a joke. We’re on the hook for Israel’s actions regardless. That’s why, frankly, Israel does not have the right to unilaterally attack Iran, and they know it. Mark my words, they won’t, no matter how petulant the small minority Shas/Likud party warmongers become.Israeli citizens want peace, far and away. This is a propaganda piece that would never run in an Israeli paper other than their version of FOX News, the Jerusalem Post.

It certainly would, but its up in the air if Ahmadinejad is willing to follow through with his threats. The US wouldn’t be taking any political shortcuts to cut down Al-Queda if they were threatening our existance and were developing nuclear tech. I mean, we went nuts and they don’t even have a tank, let alone nuclear arms. What else can they do but either sit idly by or intervene to prevent it?
