I just had to try it…. Started Age of Conan today… im on Bloodspire, playing herald of xotli.
so far… it just OWNS wow. dialog options, action gameplay, bloody neck stabbings…
wow was all "kill 5 scorpians, collect some cactus"… the quests in AoC all feel much more relavent to the game world.
I like it a lot
ping is also very decent… in town with lots of people around its about 270… wow is about 500.
no problems patching or anything for me, either.
back to it!
My main gripes so far:
Poor community - mature? Yeah right.
UI needs reworking badly.
Group interface sucks.
No death penalty and no risk/reward in FFA PVP = repetitive FPS style PVP.
Instances. Not too bad, but it would be MUCH better without them.
Anyway, patch notes part two are now up, Link :
* Traders and Banks are now available again
* Fixed some server and client crashes
* Invite to groups is no longer case sensitive
* Added Character Right Click Menu to the Chat
To start a game with no auction house or bank?Thats just crazy.I bet there's not even a mailbox system in place either? You would think that such functions would have already been implemented. Not to mention a system for flagging people as spam bots.
They were in on release, but they found an exploit and took them down before they ruined the economy.
BTW as of right now all of those things have been put back in with the late patch today.
They are quite a few instances, I believe it's over or 10 per zone (haven't counted). I can see this as being a problem in the end game, especially with PvP in mind, would be very easy to escape hostile zones by migration. My only real complain though is the lack of pvp rewards (YET… apparently :P). Asides from that it's pretty easy to level, with AoC's quest system you get extroardinary amounts of experience while exping, so you can level quite quickly. There are a few level ranges where the quests may not be plentiful enough to level quickly without some hassle, but it usually picks right back up after a level or two max.

Special thanks to the Rizz for setting up the brackets for me. I love to write for 411 but I am still HTML illiterate. I’ll have to learn someday.
However, with one week left before the tournament it seems like the appropriate time to give two of the tournament underdogs a chance to get their names out there to the public and get a trial run in my final Sports Zone Fact or Fiction exhibition match. Let’s introduce the fellows.
In the red corner we have one of our two newest basketball experts who give us a three the hard way, every other day while the NBA playoffs are really heating up. His most recent report Three Point Play talks about the newest man in charge of the disaster known as the Knicks. Making his Fact or Fiction debut it is Blake Lovell.
And in the blue corner is another man with a similar introduction as Blake. Hell his initials are even the same, well in his first name anyway. This man is attempting to catch my column count in his first month working at the website. You can read him almost everyday breaking down the nights NBA action at NBA Beatdown Fastbreak. It is B.L. Anderson.
1. Bringing in David Wells to help the Yankees injured/inconsistent pitching staff is a good idea.
Blake Lovell FICTION Ok, let me start by saying this. I know the Yankees are struggling in their rotation, and injuries continue to plague guys. But bringing back a soon to be 45 year old pitcher isn’t going to solve matters. Wells had a 5.43 ERA with the Padres last year, and I think his best days are behind him at this point. If the Yankees are looking for consistency, I just don’t think turning to Wells is the answer. The Yankees need to focus on getting younger, not older. They need to figure out ways to develop young pitchers, and stop trying to go for the quick fix by just bringing in a big name. Hell, Steinbrenner and Cashman don’t seem to have problems spending money, so why not just trade for someone that is currently getting the job done in the league? It would make more sense than taking a guy that hasn’t pitched this year, and bringing him into the mix, without knowing how effective he will be. Some people believe that Wells seems to play his best in a Yankee uniform, and that’s all well and good, but I don’t think there is some type of magic in the uniform. He’s just not as great of a pitcher anymore. At one point, he was a great asset for the Yankees and their pitching staff. But now, not so much. Sooner or later, maybe the organization will realize that bringing in big bats is only part of the game, and that pitching is pretty important too.

Man, those Irish people must be an adventurous lot.
Bell X1’s “Flock” (Yep Roc) has already gone five-times-platinum in Ireland, where the band is big enough to play castles, kind of like that other Irish import, U2. The album has spawned four Top 20 singles there and like the band’s previous incarnation Juniper, which included Damien Rice, Bell X1 is now being touted as the Next Big Thing.
That’s pretty amazing considering how noncommercial “Flock” sounds, with its shape-shifting collection of modern rock styles and quirky, unconventional lyrics delivered by singer Paul Noonan.
Bell X1 gets all Talking Heads-ish and chants, “I wanna be near you and blink in your light and toast marshmallows on a cold, dark night” in “Flame.” They channel Dave Matthews Band to talk about self-esteem issues on “Bad Skin Day.” They mix Flaming Lips and Coldplay for the first single “Rocky Took a Lover,” about a homeless man finding a soul mate. And they reissue “Eve, the Apple of My Eye” from their first album (and from an episode of “The OC”) and the lovely “Just Like Mr. Ben,” which sound much more like you’d expect Rice’s former mates to sound.
“Flock” is filled with surprising twists and turns that somehow still lead somewhere safe, making Bell X1 like that charming friend who takes you on an adventurous night of pub crawling yet still makes sure you get home safely. Who doesn’t like that guy?
