This is it. The moment you (may) have been waiting for. We finally get to learn who made the group on “The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.” Booyahkah.
The awkwardly artistic PCD video message congratulates the girls for making it this far but didn’t give any specific challenge. The remaining five go to see Robin et al and Nichole gives a teary thanks on behalf of everyone for seeing something in them which in turn gets Robin all misty.
The challenge this week is to take everything they’ve learned and put it to the stage while showcasing their own personalities. As a group they’ll be singing Kool & the Gang’s “Ladies Night.” For solos, Charlye will sing “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, Tiffanie was assigned “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin, Natalie gets “Say It Right” by Nelly Furtado (not her most vocally challenging single), Nichole will perform EnVogue’s “Giving Him Something He Can Feel,” and Chrystina got “What About Love” by Heart. Chrystina isn’t very happy with the choice because she doesn’t know the song. How does she not know that song? Oh, that’s right. Because all the contestants are, like, 12.
Before they get started on their solos, Robin lets them know that Geffen Records CEO Ron Fair will have one-on-ones with each of them to get to know them better. When asked how “compatible” she is with everyone else in the house, Natalie, in true PR fashion, says she feels she’s the most “compatible” out of the other girls. Which to a certain extent is true because she’ll act however she needs to act to get by. Nichole tells Ron that she has no commitment issues whatsoever to the group. When Ron asks how the personalities will blend, Chrystina says that it’ll definitely work with her because she wants to be in the group regardless of the other members. Tiffanie says how excited she is about doing the work that goes into making the “band” a success (late nights, early mornings, etc.). Charlye, when asked if she’d really be able to get along with everybody, admits that she has times where she clashes with Natalie and Chrystina. When Ron inquires what she’d do if she didn’t make the group, Charlye replies, “I’m not going to lie, I’ll probably go back to school.” They end her segment with Ron stating that, no matter what happens, they’re looking for someone who’s going to “hold [our] hands and jump off the cliff with us.” While I appreciate her honesty, I’m pretty sure she just submarined herself. Dive! Dive!

Stop the parade–not all TV viewers are returning back to original network episodes in droves.
A week after CBS debuted its comedies to surprisingly better-than-average numbers, CBS dramas offered modest results with their new episodes.
For CBS, the best result of the night was its 10 p.m. show “CSI:NY,” which earned a Nielsen 3.6 rating/10 share among 18-49 viewers. While it was up 13% over its last original–which ran back in February–this new episode was pitted against an NBC “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” repeat, which came in at a 1.9/5, and an original “Men in Trees” on ABC, which delivered a 1.5/4.
“Criminal Minds” at 9 p.m. had a better excuse–up against Fox’s “American Idol.” CBS’ “Minds” earned a 3.4/8, a bit better than its last original episode in January.
“Idol” still dominated the night with a 9.4/23–albeit down again versus ratings of a week ago. Fox’s racy 8 p.m. “Moment of Truth” continued to find its own steam–registering a 4.1/12 for its season finale.
NBC’s own game/reality “Deal or No Deal” couldn’t keep pace with “Truth,” earning a 2.0/6. CBS’ “Big Brother” came in at the same level as “Deal,” a 2.3/7.
ABC couldn’t muster much for its home-based reality shows–”Wife Swap” at 8 p.m. took a 2.1/6 and “Supernanny” at 9 p.m. grabbed a 2.3/6.
CW’s “American Next Top Model” continued to offer good news for the network, at a 1.9/6. A repeat of “Pussycat Dolls: Girlicious” covered up at a 0.6/2.
For the night, Fox led all networks with 6.8 rating/18 share. CBS was far behind at 3.1/8. ABC trailed CBS at a 2.0/5; NBC came in fourth, at 1.8/5; Univision was next at a 1.6/4; CW was at 1.3/4; and MyNetworkTV landed at a 0.3/1.

Last night was the final 12 men’s first time singing for their supper and tonight (8 p.m., Fox) finds the ladies getting the spotlight. In fact we’ve already got our first controversy of the season, as it seems Carly had a recording contract and a couple of albums a few years back. Hey, she’s unsigned now and that’s all that counts. She’s also one of the favorites, along with Asia’h, Joanne, and my personal favorite, Sayesha. Vote early and often or your pick could go home tomorrow night.
New seasons of America’s Next Top Model (8 p.m.) and Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (9 p.m.) get started tonight on The CW with casting specials that introduce you to a whole bunch of people who you will never see again, and hopefully we’ll end the night knowing what "girlicious" actually means. If you’re looking for a hometown angle, Kimberly (Worcester) and Fatima (Boston) will be doing their best to impress Tyra and the judges; will the sting of the SuperBowl be erased if one of them wins?
Discovery Channel’s wonderful science series Mythbusters (9 p.m.) takes on a ’80s pop culture icon tonight when they put MacGyver to the test. While it’s not at all shocking that the folks at Discovery would be big fans the action series, I am hoping they follow some version of the rule put forth in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance "when the legend becomes fact, print the legend." If shoelaces, chewing gum, and a paperclip can’t get you out of a jam, I don’t want to know.
When Goldie Hawn is profiled in tonight’s new episode of Biography (9 p.m., Bio), I am not as interested in her long and storied career, which spans five decades and includes an Oscar, as much as I am what makes her a needle in a the haystack that is Hollywood; she is in a successful relationship with another actor. While celebrity pairings come and go like the wind, she and Kurt Russell have been together almost 25 years, a stunning achievement in any walk of life.
We’ve discussed in this space on previous occasions how difficult it is for movies that have the label "classic" attached to them to live up to the hype, which is why it’s important you check out Some Like It Hot (8 p.m., TMC); from screenplay to acting to directing to cinematography, the reasons the American Film Institute named it the best comedy of ALL TIME are evident from the first scene and all the way through to the movie’s classic last line.
